The Community Design Collaborative is pleased to announce our second round of service grants for 2010. Design professionals volunteering with the Collaborative will be helping LOGAN Hope, Lower Moyamensing Civic Association, New Kensington Community Development Corporation, Refuge for the Perishing Holy Temple, and Friends of Schuylkill River Park design and advance projects that will improve open space in the city and enhance social service and educational facilities.
Lower Moyamensing Civic Association is dedicated to building community, promoting public safety, caring for the local environment, and providing a voice for its neighborhood. Lower Moyamensing wants to revitalize Marconi Plaza, a neighborhood park in South Philadelphia, and will work with a team of design professionals to develop a conceptual master plan.
New Kensington Community Development Corporation requested the Collaborative’s assistance in a community design process to envision the reuse of a vacant industrial complex in Kensington as a catalyst for sustainable development and community building.
Refuge for the Perishing Holy Temple wanted the expertise of Collaborative volunteers to help develop a conceptual design for expanding their church and social services facilities in Briston. PA to better serve its clients and help transform lives through the development of new programs and services.
Friends of Schuylkill River Park was formed to preserve, beautify, improve, maintain, and promote the use and enjoyment of Schuylkill River Park is seeking the input of Collaborative volunteers in developing a conceptual design for sustainable improvements to the entry area for this Southwest Center City park.
